SUMMER PROJECT AT THE BARBICAN

We’ve been busy at the Barbican this summer. Works have included the alterations and refurbishments to the Curve Gallery - an art exhibition space at the heart of this iconic cultural centre - as well as refurbishment works on two of their hospitality suites.

We have also enjoyed working again with Witherford Watson Mann Architects for whom we delivered another successful Barbican scheme – the refurbishment of Cromwell Tower for which they won Interior Architect of the year!

We’ve now completed alterations in the Curve Gallery to the existing floor levels, replacement stair and platform lift, installation of new lighting and associate works. Works in The Fountain Room and the Stalls Lounge included sound insulation, redecorations, new curtains, lighting and power improvements.

SCHOOLS COMPLETED

What better way to start the summer break than to be awarded a major schools contract with the Royal Borough of Greenwich as well as 2 school projects for the London Borough of Southwark? Works ranged from complete roof renewals, underpinning, fire proofing, complete classroom refit, window replacements, repairs to decorative stone work, brickwork repairs and the complete renewal of hot and cold water pipe work to a large Victorian school building. Handing over in good time for the autumn term to begin, we are thrilled to be able to share the comments from Peter Blak, the Business Manager at one of the schools we worked on - the Robert Browning School;

We use Standage for most of our building refurbishment works at Robert Browning Primary School. Their prices are competitive. Their approach to work is pragmatic, helpful and efficient throughout. The quality of work and attention to detail is of a high standard. Each project is completed on-time and within budget. I particularly enjoy working with manager Paul Godsall and I look forward to completing many more projects with him.”
