Temple Chambers, City of London
Contract: £246,526
Client: City of London
Consultant: City Surveyor's Department
Contract Value: £246,526
Temple Chambers is a legal chambers office building next to the Middle Temple within the heart of the City. Works required to the building were the redecoration of all previously painted surfaces including 714 timber sash windows and any associated repairs, the renewal of the twelve roof lights on the sixth floor, asphalt roof and gutter repairs, minor stone cleaning and repairs, and solar reflective paint recovering to over 1000m2 of roof.
One of the main challenges faced at this site (apart from a building full of lawyers) was the complicated layout of the rear elevation following a century's worth of ad-hoc extensions from ground level to the 6th floor roof. Also due to party wall agreements and strict access requirements, scaffolding to the rear elevation had to be lifted up and over (and through) the building.
